Boxing Day Sales

I’ve been meaning to post this on my website but its been in the draft section for one too many days, oops! To those who celebrate Christmas I hope you had a lovely time I don’t celebrate it but I do look forward to the odd, good film that appears on TV. When I think of Boxing Day Sales I don’t think about the manic that occurs in Selfridges or the massive online shopping that must happen. I think about how bloody crazy is it inside Next.

It’s always full of middle aged women hunting for clothes like wild animals. I went there in the afternoon on Boxing Day and I found it rather funny that there was a whole bunch of mothers with massive suitcases wandering around the store looking at every sale rack, grabbing anything that looked like it would possibly fit their children and their husbands. There was a woman in the queue who had two overloading suitcases, she really was making the most of the sales but I’m certain they return half the clothes after they’ve tried them on. Still I guess it’s the smart thing to do, buy as much as you can wheel back home and return the unwanted stuff later when the shops are quiet. Naturally a couple of hours before Boxing Day started I trawled through online shops looking for one item. Yes that’s right, just one item. In the past I spent money I didn’t have on the sales buying things that I thought I needed but in reality I didn’t so I set myself a challenge of spending less than £40 on only one thing. Truth be told it wasn’t too hard to resist the sales, I didn’t find much that caught my eye other than a few plain shirts in Topman that were around £4 each. I stuck to my guns and carried on looking for my one item…thankfully I spotted the perfect purchase.

Cheap Monday Leather Wallet – £15 (down from £30) at Asos.

I can’t begin to explain how long I’ve been looking for a leather wallet. When I go to the accessories section of a shop I find wallets that either have an odd pocket for spare change with a button/zip or they’re two folded (I don’t know if that’s the correct term). I wanted one that was just a simple one fold wallet with no frilly pockets because it adds an unpleasant bulk to the wallet.  A few months back I came across one by Marc Jacobs which looked smart, minimal but the price…wasn’t pretty. I think this Cheap Monday wallet is an affordable alternative and its real leather.

Yes I know a nice expensive looking wallet would be sort of an investment considering you don’t change your wallet very often but I’m the type of person who loses things easily for example  my Iphone 4S whilst crossing a road (which got ran over by buses). Let’s hope 2013 is a luckier year for me, I could do with some and I hope you have a happy new year!

  1. What a great find! I end up spending too much on Boxing Day as well.

  2. You’re site contains too much bitching and not enough on clothing. Its a clothing blog, not your personal bitch-a-thon corner.

  3. Hey Philip, sorry you feel this way about my blog. I personally don’t think it is a bitchy blog, I’ve mostly talked about the things I’ve bought and my honest views on the clothes. If you have any suggestions I’d be grateful to hear them because I appreciate any feedback I can get.
